With our old neighbors. A kind of farewell dinner. The  Bernardo's. Ken, Isabel and Jaime. Some things are hard to leave!

Memory Lane

Old dresses of mine..... of my grandmother's....... things made by other people for me or my children........ things made by my children....... possessions the children cherished. This is why these things are hidden in the crawl space. It was a place to stow them away, where decisions need not be made and now must be. Prom dresses, wedding dresses, letterman jackets...... pictures, books, evidence of past greatness..... certificates, thank you notes, awards, trophies. Wading through is a chore and mentally challenging.

Back to it

We are home from Utah and are back to working on the house. My main goal is to go through the boxes in the crawl space and get rid of as much as I can. Went through close to ten boxes. This is going to be hard...... Everything I see has memories, but I still got rid of a lot of stuff. Came across my high school diploma and my college diploma. Institute diplomas and some diplomas for the kids as well. It'll be a walk down memory lane!

all good things come to an end

Really just other good things take their place!

Our Salt Lake trip is over. Camping is done. Seeing the grandkids is done. Counseling the kids is done. We had a great time with a few bumps in the road.

The palisade trip may need working over next year. Maybe not though too. Ha, ha!

One exciting though that did happen is that our house went up for sale. We got an offer within one day, and and are now under contract before we even get home. Hopefully everything works out well. Now we just have to wait for the rental home to become free so we can fix it up and sell it. It would be great if they both sold so quickly.

The Humanitarian job didn't work out. I was in the top four of 80 some odd candidates, but they decided to hire someone who is already working there.......

I still can believe we are moving to Utah....... It is getting real.

So tired

Today we arrived in Salt Lake. It has been a very long day. The best thing about family is family. The worst thing about family is family.

It was good to see everyone, but this is going to be one hard journey living with all the problems and challenges right squarely in our face. I hope we can help in some way.

I tried to call the humanitarian center a few times today. No answer. Left messages. No calls back. I may have tho write this one off!

This is where we are staying the night tonight. It's drier...... Got a nosebleed...... And we are definitely in the West now. Cowboy hats and country motif!

Another long day of driving and yay for tomorrow when we get to see family!

Driving day

Today we started our drive across the nation. We had to leave the house perfect for the photographer and when the house goes up for sale on Wednesday. The house looks really nice and we drove 700 miles out of 2100. I drove it...... Linc was still recovering from his operation. It felt good to accomplish all that driving!

I took the Microsoft office assessment

It was open book and open internet.....but not open person. Meaning a person could not help me. They give you three minutes per question to research. I did so well that I got an interview with the humanitarian center in Salt Lake. I felt really good. REALLY good about the interview but haven't heard anything back so in a little bit discouraged. We are traveling to Salt Lake tomorrow by car and I was hoping to know before we went. Ahh well. Any news one way or the other will be great.

Our house will be listed this coming week. It'll be interesting to see how that goes.

Wow

We have so much to do! I have to prepare a talk for Sunday pay bills, pack, paint, look for a job...... It is getting kind of stressful. But good news! I've been asked to do an assessment on the Microsoft offic  products for a job I've applied for. That could be bad news or good news. One thing at a time...... One thing at a time!

Plans ahead

Today we showed the house to one of Lincoln's co-workers. It didn't take long for them to decide that the house was tho small and then it didn't take long for us to decide to list the house on the market with a realtor. See also went and bought paint and have started painting the house. Hopefully we'll get it done over the holiday weekend.

Talked to Halley today. We are already taking about doing a few things together. I can't wait!
