Grandma Heaven

Our yard is a climbing heaven or a climbing hell.  You just have to hope that these kiddos are sure footed!

A Tea Party

Tea parties have become somewhat of a tradition in our household.   The granddaughters love them and so do the adults.  Aria suggested that we have one yesterday.   It is the baby's first time to take part in it.   So fun!

Anniversary Drive

Sunday the 13th was Lincoln and my 36th anniversary.   We celebrated by going for a drive on the Nebo Loop hoping to see fall colors.   The lowest trees,  the scrub oaks are changing and are pretty!  We used to do a lot of Sunday drives when we were younger and are now doing it again.   The splendor of the world is truly amazing to behold.   The mountains were hazy with smoke, we saw the fires on our drive.  It is sad when homes are destroyed, but fires are a way that nature renews itself.  When we walk through burnt out areas,  even from last year you can see that renewal.

Some burnt trees.  Kind of Spooky Looking.

The things we live through

Yesterday as we were driving toward our house,  Lincoln and I noticed that there was a lot of smoke coming from the canyon just south of us.  The smoke soon became a major fire and was threatening many acres of land and many people's homes.   Thankfully for us, we live north of the fire and the wind was blowing south.   As I listened to the wind that was saving us,  I couldn't help but think of those just before or to the south of the fire.   We have had some close calls with fire since purchasing our home on this mountainside.

My mind also took me to Maryland where we once lived.   I didn't ever worry about fire,  but we did worry about wind that toppled trees that had stood for decades and hurricanes and tropical storms and even worse the human threat of less lawful people in the area.

Neither circumstance is fun....... but both are interesting and give you an occasional reason to be thankful for the relative peace.

The pictures below are of the fire yesterday.   A little rain has slowed it down and hopefully stopped it.

Finding Common Ground

Lincoln and I for quite some time, since moving to Utah have talked about becoming hand gun owners.  We joined an indoor shooting range,  tried out a bunch of guns and decided what we wanted.   It is something he and I can do together.   Target shoot.   We aren't shooting enough yet,  but I hope with the membership to the shooting range and owning the guns we will be motivated to do more shooting.  I love the feeling of shooting.   It's like therapy.   Take THAT!

Another Snowbird Walk

The morning was fresh and crisp.   It's great to get out and walk and enjoy what nature gives us.

Snowbird

We decided to use our extra timeshare points before they expire.   Lincoln booked us for days at Snowbird.   It is a ghost town here!  I took a walk and saw maybe five other people.   One an employee.  It is kind of nice though.   Sitting on the deck,  looking at a beautiful mountainside listening to the babble of the creek below.   And it is cool.   Almost too cool.  Lincoln hasn't arrived yet so I'm in introvert heaven for a while.  This area is usually teaming with people.
The kid area.   Dead. Kid climbing wall..... closed.   That'd be hard to sanitize!Usually music,  and people or a band playing.   Totally silent.
The view.   It's better when you stand up.   Ha! Ha!
