St. Anne

We decided to go visit a Cathedral.
This is the Cathedral of St. Anne.
St. Anne was Mary, the mother of Christ's mother.

In our church we rarely talk about Mary's parents.
It was fun to see all of the different representations
of St. Anne and Mary.

Above the door of the Cathedral.

St. Anne with her daughter Mary.

The doors of the cathedral.
This is pressed copper.
We went and visited the workshop that made these.
I don't have pictures though,
no pictures allowed.

Every inch of the cathedral was decorated.
This is the floor.

St. Anne and Mary
I guess catholic people pray to Mary
and Mary will talk to her son in our behalf.
An odd thought for me!
And then to build a whole cathedral
around Mary's mother. . . . . interesting.

This is the basement of the cathedral.

The city wall again.

We also visited the Citadel (a military installation)
to see the changing of the Guard.

This guard's entire job is to take care of this goat.
The Citadel's mascot.
There is quite a story behind this goat.
The queen gave them a goat many years ago
and since then, they've always kept a goat.
He gets quite fussy at times,
during their very serious changing of the guard.
He sometimes steals all of the attention.

This was fun.
A lot of fanfare!

People were having their picture taken with the goat.

We wanted to try crepes.
THey are quite different than what we eat.
